Diary of Device
She was so excited to meet me for the first time. Not to brag, but I was the first big purchase she had made completely on her own. That honeymoon phase is something I’ll never forget: she wouldn’t stop showing me off to her friends, she cranked up the volume of every noise I made just because she loved the sound. I would sing nonstop all day with new notifications and messages from her groups of friends.
That phase died out quick, but I know she still loves me just as much. Sure, we’ve had our ups and downs: she cracked my screen twice, the first time being so bad that my home button had fallen off. But her solution was never to go buy a new phone; instead, she stuck it out with me and insisted on paying for me to be repaired. She took me to different countries and even bought a new case for me so that I could go scuba diving with her in The Galapagos.
Her friends always laugh at her, but we just laugh along with them. “How do you still have that thing?” they mock. Sure, it’s always been just us two for the past four years, but I know I wouldn’t have it any other way.
