TREAC Paragraph

The rapid advancement of technology is drastically changing the way that young members of the current generation develop [Topic]. Constant use of technology is leading to isolation, which can progress into deeper mental health issues [Restriction]. Jean M. Twenge, an American psychology professor, addresses the fact that teens are spending more time alone on their phones rather than building physical relationships with the people around them [Exhibit]. This raises a concern because as teens isolate themselves more from the real world, they become more involved in a world that is not necessarily realistic. They lose opportunities to develop better social skills and they form relationships with others’ online personas rather than their real personas [Analysis]. This isolation and false perception of others can lead to depression, low self esteem, and anxiety in teenagers [Conclusion].
