Pre-Writing Activity

I chose to do a timeline for my pre-writing activity. Looking through both my positive and negative learning experiences, I have noticed a pattern. My motivation to learn new things tends to lie in the excitement of being able to do something I haven’t done before. My motivation to persist in growing at these things tends to lie in the feeling of self-accomplishment. For example, when I first learned how to read, I was so proud of myself that I felt empowered to continue reading every book I found. When I started gymnastics, I was able to do new tricks that I hadn’t been able to do at the start, and I continued practicing so that I could learn even more. On the opposite end of the spectrum, when I didn’t see that personal growth, I gave up. When I began receiving poor scores in gymnastics competitions, I slowly lost interest in the sport. Eventually I lost so much interest that I decided to quit. The same thing happened with art, which was something I was always passionate about while growing up. When my art grades starting dropping due to me turning in projects late (due to the intense amount of time and effort I would put into them), my interest for art slowly began deteriorating to the point where I no longer wanted to do an art class the next year. I tend to find a passion for the things that I can noticeable see myself improving in.
