Bain Annotations
My method of annotating consisted of writing a brief summary of each paragraph after I read it. I would read a paragraph, then ask myself, “what did I just read about?” Without looking at the paragraph again, I would write a quick summary of the information in my own words. This method is effective for me because it keeps me actively reading throughout the entire chapter. I know I must write a summary after each paragraph, so I make sure to pay attention to what is being said as I read. If I finish a paragraph and I cannot think of anything to write, then I go back and reread the paragraph. I have used this method since the start of this class and it has been very effective for me, since usually when I’m reading, I just scan over the words without really taking anything away from it. I also underlined and labeled specific phrases that could be connected to certain learning styles.
