Peer Review Reflection 1
I think peer review is something I will definitely need to practice more in order to get better at it. When I was reviewing, I noticed big things that needed to be changed throughout the entire essay. I did not want to keep highlighting every sentence and giving suggestions on how to fix it because I was afraid I would come across as rude. I think as I work on peer review I will become more comfortable with sharing my advice without feeling guilty for it, after all it could improve the person’s essay. I was also nervous that I would make corrections to something that the person would not agree with. However, reflecting back I should have just included those corrections anyway, because if the person does not want to listen to them then they do not have to.
I did not receive many corrections on my essay, which actually made me nervous as well. I received a couple grammatical corrections which were helpful because they were little things that I simply read over. However, there were some things in my essay that I was unsure about and I would have liked to receive specific review on them. Next time, I will highlight these parts before sharing my essay and ask my peers ahead of time to give me feedback on them. I did not use a thesis in my essay, nor did I reference any of the sources. My essay was entirely just my opinion and my experience with the topic, but now as I am reflecting back, I think I should have at least included information about the sources. Overall, I have learned that I should highlight specific information that I have questions about and let my peers know ahead of time.

Hi, Molly,
Thanks for your candid response about the challenges of peer review. This term, we will discuss features of your peers’ writing to focus upon as you review, which give you more confidence as a writer and as a reviewer. This will also help your classmates to offer you meaningful feedback. Thanks for sharing your process!
